beyond.
When we feel better, we work better. Yet in today’s fast-paced working world, it’s all too common to prioritise productivity at the expense of wellbeing - often unintentionally.
Earlier this month we celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week (5-11 May 2025), which serves as a powerful and important reminder: it doesn’t have to be this way. A growing body of research shows that when employee wellbeing is actively supported, performance and engagement rise significantly.
It’s time to put people first - because when we do, both individuals and organisations thrive.
That’s why, as we reflect on Mental Health Awareness Week, we saw it as a perfect opportunity to talk about wellness and the workspace. After all, by providing organisations and their employees with workspaces designed to improve people’s happiness, wellbeing and productivity, we create an environment that produces healthy, thriving hubs of creativity.
Over the years, workplace wellness initiatives were perhaps seen as a perk - a beanbag here or a wellness day there. Thankfully, we have moved beyond this, and we’re certainly proud of how much we focus on wellness in our workspaces, understanding how important it is to all our members. Indeed, business leaders are now increasingly aware that by choosing the right workspace, they can immediately improve the wellbeing support on offer to their staff.
But there is clearly more progress to be made. In fact, recent research from infinitSpace revealed that 39% of UK employees said that their employers talk about prioritising wellbeing but fail to deliver meaningful support, while over two-fifths (44%) think their employer puts performance ahead of health and wellbeing.
Our spaces are filled with natural light, providing users with an open and spacious environment that fuels creativity. This is coupled with ergonomic furniture and breakout spaces where users can go to relax and find inspiration.
Even small details can give the feeling of promoting physical wellness, such as access to bike storage or, like we do at beyond Aldgate Tower, offering free massages to members every month.
Similarly, mental health is an incredibly important aspect of wellness and the workspace. That’s why at beyond we provide dedicated wellness rooms where users can find the calming atmosphere that allows them to take a break and recharge. By fostering a culture of openness and support, members can be the best versions of themselves.
Coming to work doesn’t have to feel like a chore. It can feel inspiring and energising. That starts by using a workspace that puts people first, that believes the magic is in human connection (not just strong WiFi).
At beyond, we offer so much more than an office, table and chair to count down the hours until the end of the day. We create connections and a community that fosters happy and healthy workers and businesses. Because we truly believe in making every day - even the stressful ones – as supportive and collaborative as possible.
Mental Health Awareness Week gives us the chance to pause and reflect again on how important it is that we focus on wellness and the workspace. The two are so closely linked, and it’s extremely important to us that we can support all our beyond members with spaces, facilities and perks that boost their wellbeing.
